Rotarians joined Northern Illinois Food Bank volunteers to help fight hunger, packing 18,888 pounds of food and 13,020 cans to provide more than 16,000 meals for local families. The Rotary Club of Joliet also presented a $1,000 donation to support the Food Bank's mission of serving neighbors in need throughout Northern Illinois.
The Rotary Club of Joliet recently put "Service Above Self" into action during a community service project at the Northern Illinois Food Bank, joining volunteers from across the region in the fight against hunger.
Rotarians spent the morning sorting and packing food for families facing food insecurity throughout Northern Illinois. Together, volunteers packed an impressive 18,888 pounds of food, providing an estimated 15,740 meals for neighbors in need. The group also sorted and packed 13,020 cans of food, helping provide nearly 400 additional meals for local families.
In addition to volunteering their time, the Rotary Club of Joliet presented a $1,000 donation to the Northern Illinois Food Bank to support the organization's mission of providing nutritious meals and addressing hunger across the communities it serves.
"Our club is committed to making a difference both locally and globally," said Rotary Club of Joliet President John Spesia. "Partnering with the Northern Illinois Food Bank allows us to directly support families in our own communities while working alongside fellow Rotarians and volunteers to create meaningful impact."
