Joliet Rotary Club donated $1,000 to Rotary International's End Polio Now campaign in honor of District 6450 Governor Mary Dankowski during her recent visit. The club also announced plans for its Walk to End Polio on October 24, 2026, helping raise awareness and funds to eradicate polio worldwide.
The Rotary Club of Joliet proudly presented a $1,000 donation to Rotary International's PolioPlus Fund in honor of District 6450 Governor Mary Dankowski during her recent visit to the club.
The contribution supports Rotary's global End Polio Now campaign, a decades-long effort dedicated to eradicating polio worldwide. Thanks to the commitment of Rotary members and partners around the globe, polio cases have been reduced by more than 99.9%, bringing the world closer than ever to eliminating this debilitating disease.
"Rotary's fight against polio is one of the greatest humanitarian achievements in history," said Joliet Rotary President John Spesia. "We were honored to recognize District Governor Mary Dankowski's leadership and service with a contribution that advances Rotary's promise to end polio forever."
During her visit, Governor Dankowski shared her vision for service, membership growth, and community impact throughout Rotary District 6450. Her message inspired members to continue investing their time, talents, and resources to create lasting change locally and globally.
The Joliet Rotary Club remains committed to supporting the End Polio Now initiative through advocacy, fundraising, and community engagement. As part of that commitment, the club is excited to announce plans for its upcoming Walk to End Polio on October 24, 2026.
The family-friendly event will bring together Rotary members, community supporters, and local organizations to raise awareness and funds for polio eradication efforts. Participants will gather at Rock Run Preserve and walk a designated route supporting Rotary's mission to end polio once and for all.
