United for Good in the Fight Against Hunger
Each week, the Rotary share of our 50/50 raffle goes directly to Northern Illinois Food Bank, totaling $2,833 in 2025 to help fight hunger.
Northern Illinois Food Bank provides nutritious food to over 570,000 neighbors each month through a network of 900+ food programs — supported by 1,000 weekly volunteers.
Our members are proud to be part of that effort, regularly volunteering to sort and pack food that helps families across our region.
This work reflects Rotary’s global mission to strengthen communities and aligns with Rotary International’s 2025–26 message: Unite for Good.
United for Good in the Fight Against Hunger
At the Rotary Club of Joliet, service isn’t just something we do — it’s who we are. Each week, our members participate in a 50/50 raffle, and 100% of the Rotary share of the proceeds is donated directly to the Northern Illinois Food Bank. In 2025, our club proudly contributed $2,833 to support their vital hunger-relief work.
But our commitment doesn’t stop at financial support. Club members also volunteer regularly to sort, pack, and distribute food, joining the more than 1,000 weekly volunteers who help Northern Illinois Food Bank ensure nutritious meals reach families across our region.
Why Northern Illinois Food Bank?
Northern Illinois Food Bank is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and a member of the Feeding America network, serving more than 570,000 neighbors every month through a network of 900+ food pantries, soup kitchens, and feeding programs across 13 northern Illinois counties.
The Food Bank also provides essential support through its SNAP Outreach Program, helping individuals determine eligibility and apply for SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits — a program that provides low‑income families with monthly funds for groceries.
This combination of direct food distribution and navigation assistance ensures that families not only receive meals today but gain access to long‑term stability.
Why This Work Matters to Rotary
Rotary International’s mission centers on uplifting communities through humanitarian service, building peace, and improving health and well‑being worldwide. Combatting hunger is deeply connected to all three.
Food security strengthens families, reduces conflict, enhances educational outcomes, and stabilizes communities — aligning perfectly with Rotary’s vision and programs such as the Rotary Peace Fellowships, which train leaders to address the root causes of instability and human suffering.
When we help ensure our neighbors don’t go hungry, we are actively building the foundation for a more peaceful and resilient community — the heart of Rotary’s global mission.
United for Good
Rotary’s 2025–2026 international message, Unite for Good, calls on all Rotarians to join together in service that creates lasting, positive impact.
Supporting the Northern Illinois Food Bank through our raffle proceeds and hands‑on volunteerism is a clear, local expression of this message. Together, we unite our resources, time, and compassion to ensure that every family in our region has access to nutritious food and a brighter tomorrow.
